Your rights as a writer
You own the copyright in your original writing. Publishing on Kothakoli gives us only the limited licence described in our Terms of Service. Others may not copy your work without your permission.
What you may post
- Your own original work.
- Works that are in the public domain (in India, generally works whose author died more than 60 years ago, counted from the following calendar year).
- Short quotations with credit, for review or commentary.
Do not post other people's poems, song lyrics, stories or translations unless they are in the public domain or you have written permission.
Classic works on Kothakoli
Classic works are taken from public-domain sources. If you believe any work published here is still under copyright, please tell us and we will review and remove it if needed.
Reporting infringement (takedown notice)
If you believe content on Kothakoli infringes your copyright, send a notice to hellokothakoli@gmail.com with:
- your name and contact details;
- a description of the copyrighted work;
- the link(s) to the content on Kothakoli;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by you, your agent or the law;
- a statement that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner;
- your physical or electronic signature.
We will acknowledge the notice and, if it is valid, remove or disable access to the content within 36 hours, as required by Indian law, and inform the user who posted it.
Counter-notice
If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake or you have the rights, email hellokothakoli@gmail.com with the link, an explanation and your contact details. We may restore the content if the complainant does not pursue the matter.
Repeat infringers
Accounts that repeatedly infringe copyright will be suspended or terminated, and any earnings from infringing content may be cancelled.
